Titus 2: 1-15

(Titus 2: 1-15)  But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine: That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience. The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded. In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,  Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.  Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again; Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things. For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,  Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;  Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;  Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.  These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

Paul counseled members of the Church, Titus, the old man and the old woman, the young man and the young woman, and the servants, respectively. Paul asked Titus for unity of words and actions. "Titus speaking to people" means preaching and teaching the gospel. Paul denied to Titus the same thing as the circumcision that used circumcision as a means of salvation at that time, but preach and teach the truth, the lesson of God our Savior. But not only does he preach the gospel, he asks him to live a life worthy of it.

Paul exhorted the old men to be restrained, godly, prudent, and wholehearted in faith, love, and patience. The original language interpreted as an old man means an elder, envoy, or elder, which can be interpreted as a respected male adult. A respected adult is a person who knows to be modest. The Greek word nepaleus, interpreted as temperance, means not to be drunk. He said to be godly. The Greek word "Semnos", interpreted as godliness, means "honorable, holy."

Being holy means living a distinct life. A distinct life is a life that has been destroyed before God. The existence of "me" disappears, and there is only existence for God. Jesus said to deny himself. Holiness is not about trying to live godly, but giving up on yourself. He said to be cautious. The Greek word "sopron" interpreted as "careful" has the meaning of prudence or restraint that suppresses one's desires and impulses. He said to be perfect in faith, love, and patience. Paul says: Older men should be self-controlled, dignified, cautious, sound in faith, sound in love, and sound in patience. These people will be filled with the Holy Spirit.

Paul said to the old woman: To be a respected woman and adult, conduct must be holy, not insulting, not a lot of wine, and teachers of the good. Respected female adults not only have to meet all the qualifications of respected male adults, but the following requirements have been added. First, he said that the conduct should be holy, meaning "a woman respected because of good behavior."

That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. The second requirement is not to condemn, and the Greek word interpreted as "devaluate" is "Diabolos", which means the devil. When I hate others, it means that I am no longer a child of God, but Satan or the Devil who is against God.

Thirdly, it is said not to be the servant of many alcohol (wine in the original language), which can be seen as an older woman who was then intoxicated with drunkards to accuse others. In general, as a woman ages, her control may be less than that of a man.

Fourth, Paul encouraged old women to become teachers of good things. The Greek word, interpreted as a teacher of the good, is a word that appears only once in the text in the Bible, meaning "good teacher." Being older means having more life experiences than younger people. However, having more experiences than others does not make you a good teacher. Depending on how you lived your life, you could be a good teacher who has a good influence on your home and neighbors, or a useless person who has a bad influence. Authority as an adult will depend on whether you have lived a faithful life.

Paul encouraged young men to be prudent. ``Soproneo'', which is interpreted as ``careful,'' also has the meaning of being alert. Being able to become a respected adult even as you grow older will be the result of the days you have lived with the right spirit in the Word of God since your youth.
Paul told the servants, "Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again; Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things.

Paul called himself a servant of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. As a servant of Jesus Christ, he lived a faithful life that pleased God who obeyed the word of God.
The saint is a servant of Christ. However, if you forget the status of a servant, you fall into the world. The reason Jesus redeemed the saints by the blood of the ransom is to abandon all ungodliness and lust of the world, to live as a people of God who works hard for good works with prudence, righteousness and godliness, the glory of God the Savior Jesus Christ It is to indicate. Living as a people of God that reveals the glory of the Lord is also a life of obedience to the Word of the Lord.
